A coach of a women’s volleyball team from Palma, 23 years old, has been arrested in Mallorca by the National Police as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault on a student under 16 years old. The young woman became pregnant as a result of the assault.

The young man, who had been coaching the teenager for several years, was brought before a judge last Saturday and was released with a restraining order and a prohibition on any contact with her, according to Ultima Hora.
The family detected the problem following a sudden change in behavior
The assault occurred in June, after the coach invited the minor and another teammate to his home. The teammate left the house and the man took advantage of the girl being alone to sexually assault her.
The minor’s family began to suspect after noticing a significant change in her behavior. The teenager changed her routines and, weeks later, began to experience vomiting and other health problems. The family took her to a hospital in Palma, where it was confirmed that she was pregnant. It was then that the minor told those around her what had happened and the police investigation began.
The officers arrested the suspect at his home in the Balearic capital
Officers from the Family and Women’s Unit (UFAM) of the National Police took charge of the proceedings and gathered information about the relationship between the coach and the minor. During the investigation, the contacts they had maintained after the events were also analyzed. The officers arrested the suspect at his home in Palma and he exercised his right not to testify before the judge.
The magistrate ordered his release while the judicial investigation continues. As precautionary measures, a restraining order of 200 meters from the minor was established and he was prohibited from communicating with her by any means during the processing of the case. The case remains open and the detainee maintains his status as a suspect.
