Two violent assaults in one hour in Madrid: a young man intubated in Príncipe Pío and another stabbed in Carretas

Two men have been injured in separate assaults that occurred during the early hours of this Sunday in the center of Madrid, one near Príncipe Pío and another on Carretas Street, in the heart of the historic center. Both injured were attended by SAMUR-Protección Civil personnel and taken to different hospitals, although the incidents are not related, according to Madrid Emergency services. The lives of the injured are not feared to be at risk, according to hospital sources.

The first incident occurred at 05:15 near Príncipe Pío. A 27-year-old man suffered a moderate to severe traumatic brain injury after falling to the ground during an assault. SAMUR-Protección Civil paramedics had to intubate him before his transfer to the hospital.

An hour later, at 06:15, emergency services attended to another man assaulted with a knife near Carretas Street. The victim had a wound on his back, in the kidney area, and was taken in stable condition to a hospital.

Madrid Municipal Police facilitated the transfer of both injured to hospitals, while the National Police took charge of the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the two assaults.
