The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested a 23-year-old man, with an arrest warrant issued by a court in Vigo, after rescuing him while he was swimming out to sea off the beaches of Barcelona, ignoring the instructions of Maritime Rescue.

Sources from the regional police have explained that the young man has seven prior convictions, for crimes related to domestic abuse, disobedience and resistance, and assault against an authority agent.
The Maritime Police of the Mossos d’Esquadra went to rescue the young man, following a call received at 19:58 hours, after verifying that he had swum far out to sea, very far from the beach, and was ignoring the instructions of Maritime Rescue to return to shore.

Once on land, the officers identified the young man and, after verifying that he had an outstanding arrest warrant, forwarded the information to the duty court. The man was in good health and the Mossos do not know if he was trying to swim to some place or if he was out at sea for some specific reason.
