Thousands of young Moroccans are heading this Thursday to the border between Castillejos, in Morocco, and Ceuta to try to cross the fence that separates the two cities, as confirmed by EFE.

Hundreds of them have jumped the protective fences, which were not guarded by police at that moment, and have entered Ceuta, while the agents of the Moroccan auxiliary forces responsible for security on land withdrew in the face of the young people.
“We are going to the fence, not by the sea, to the border. Inshalla (hopefully we make it),” shouted one of the young people, many of whom arrived in Castillejos by cars and motorcycles.
The result is that thousands of migrants are entering the city of Ceuta this Thursday from Morocco by crossing the border breakwater on foot, as also confirmed by EFE. These arrivals add to the thousands of entries that have occurred by swimming in recent days: according to the Ceuta government, between 1,500 and 2,000 people have entered the city in ten days, which has overwhelmed the city’s care and reception resources.

The security agents questioned have stated that they do not know the reason for this massive gathering of young people to cross the fence, which coincides with the celebration of the Throne Festival in Morocco.
Complaints from the Spanish Police
The unions Unified Police Union (SUP) and Jupol of the National Police denounce, in fact, that the Moroccan authorities “are doing absolutely nothing” to prevent the massive entry of immigrants into Ceuta both by sea and by the breakwater that separates the autonomous city from Morocco.
From the SUP in the autonomous city, they indicate that Morocco “is no longer holding anyone” and that for the agents it is “impossible” to cope with the current situation, which they describe as a “total collapse.”
