The PP has once again summoned the ministers of Pedro Sánchez’s Government in the Senate who did not appear in August to account for the management of the Ceuta crisis in the Upper Chamber.

The Popular group, which holds an absolute majority, has registered the request for the appearance of the heads of the Interior, Defense, and Foreign Affairs ministries, who avoided the summons and spoke at the end of the month in the Congress of Deputies.
In a press release issued this Saturday, the PP spokesperson in the Senate, Alicia García, demands that Fernando Grande-Marlaska (Interior), Margarita Robles (Defense), and José Manuel Albares (Foreign Affairs) “come out of their parliamentary contempt and comply with the law.” The presidents of the three commissions will contact the three ministries to set the dates for the appearances.

Marlaska on two occasions, Robles, and Albares did not attend the Senate in August because a few days later they were summoned to the Congress, where they provided information from their departments about the massive entry of immigrants into Ceuta at the end of July. The PP then requested the Supreme Court through an urgent precautionary measure to force the three ministers to appear in the Senate before the end of August.
The vacation chamber of the high court, in an order dated the 22nd, denied the request, as the special legal urgency required to proceed without hearing the opposing party was not accredited. According to the Supreme Court, the ministers’ explanations would not lose effectiveness if given during the ordinary parliamentary period starting September 1.
