Night work on the Fermoselle (Zamora) fire has allowed to “substantially reduce its danger” with the stabilization of the two fronts that were most concerning, the north and the east, although it still maintains four active sectors and numerous hot spots.
According to the head of the environmental service of the Junta in Zamora, Mariano Rodríguez Alonso, the two most dangerous fronts have been stabilized, “although there are numerous hot spots and very complicated areas.”
Rodríguez Alonso has indicated that there are still four active sectors on the south and west fronts and that the weather forecasts for this Thursday, the second day of the fourth heat wave, are “very bad,” which does not encourage “short-term” optimism.

During this night, two new towns, Villar del Buey and Pasariegos, have also had to be evacuated, and nearly fifty resources have worked on protecting homes and urban centers, perimeter control, and direct flame combat.

In Villar del Buey, among the approximately five hundred residents are the 25 elderly from the local nursing home, who have been transferred to the Los Tres Árboles residence in the city of Zamora. The firefighting operation especially fears the wind expected to intensify during Thursday afternoon.
Throughout the night, and awaiting the progressive incorporation of aerial resources this morning, about fifty resources have worked, including six technicians, thirteen environmental agents, thirteen crews, five fire trucks, three machinery crews, and eight firefighter teams from the Zamora and Salamanca provincial councils.
