The iPhone has been declared dead for 19 years, but Apple is already preparing a grand celebration for the 20th anniversary version of its phone, which will arrive next year. Shortly after its launch in 2007, when then Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was asked about the new Apple phone, he laughed out loud: “it’s the most expensive phone in the world. And it doesn’t attract business customers because it doesn’t have a keyboard, which makes it not a very good email machine.” A very short-sighted view.

Spain is still immersed in one of the worst summers in terms of forest fires. Three times the area has already burned compared to the same dates last year. If last week the fire took the lives of 13 people and burned 7,000 hectares in Los Gallardos (Almería), these days the worst affected area is Aragón. In Los Gallardos there are still 20 firefighter teams working on extinguishing the fire, while in Orés (Zaragoza) 450 personnel are fighting a fire that, since Wednesday, has already burned 15,400 hectares and 1,000 people have been evacuated.

On Tuesday a new heat wave will arrive that will last at least until Thursday, when it will reach its “peak,” bringing temperatures of up to 45 degrees and affecting the southeastern third, Guadalquivir valley, Ebro valley, northeastern depressions, Pyrenees valleys, and the interior of Mallorca. A mass of warm, dry air with suspended dust will also settle over much of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.

It is 11 in the morning on a working day in mid-July in Barcelona and the humidity and heat are starting to be difficult to manage. In 2025, up to July 15, the data indicated that 20,466.25 hectares had burned, with 6 large fires, according to data provided by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, based on information collected by the autonomous communities.

The master’s program Global Challenges for Sustainability, designed by nine European universities led by the University of Barcelona (UB), has received the quality label created by the European Commission to highlight degree programs born from European university alliances.
