The King participated this Friday, via videoconference, in the meeting of the State Coordination and Management Committee (CECOD) of the State Emergency Plan. From the operations center of the General Command of the Balearic Islands, the Head of State, who this morning began his official stay in Palma with audiences with the Balearic authorities, is following from Marivent the evolution of the fires unleashed in the Community of Madrid, and in areas of Castilla-León and Castilla-La Mancha, which have forced more than 20,000 people to evacuate and another 25,000 to be confined.

Throughout the day, the King has contacted the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, as well as the presidents of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco; and of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, to inquire about the situation caused by the fires affecting these communities. He is also holding telephone conversations with the mayors of the affected municipalities.

This morning, after the audience she held with the King at the Almudaina Palace, the president of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens, commented that during the meeting the King expressed concern about the situation caused by the fires, given the adverse weather conditions that make it difficult to control the fires and their proximity to population centers. “The King, as always, demonstrates a knowledge of the territory, in fact, he was explaining the characteristics of this territory to me,” detailed the regional president after the meeting.
