Firefighters are working to extinguish a new fire in the north of Collserola, declared this Tuesday afternoon near the Canyelles neighborhood, in the Nou Barris district of Barcelona. The fire is located above the Alta de Roquetes road heading towards Sant Cugat. A large column of smoke is visible from various points in the city.
The Generalitat Fire Department is working with five aerial resources, including a helicopter and two planes, as well as ground resources and GRAF personnel, as they have explained to ACN. The firefighters have reported in a post on X that the fire is climbing a hill and they are working on the right flank of the fire.
Protecció Civil has reported that it is ordering the confinement of residents in the Torre Baró and Ciutat Meridiana neighborhoods due to the smoke from the vegetation fire, and has also asked that doors and windows be closed.
The fire was declared at 3:20 p.m. this Tuesday in a scrubland area, according to sources from the Generalitat firefighters, who added that the smoke column is “significant,” although they believe the fire is not as serious as last week’s also in Collserola. The emergency number 112 received around 380 warning calls at about 3:45 p.m.
