In a scenario where connectivity is established as one of the pillars of economic growth in Europe, analyzing the financial strength of digital infrastructure companies has become a priority for investors and analysts. Under this premise, “Ready to Connect” was born, the videopodcast driven by Cellnex, which offers a direct and strategic vision of the factors that are redefining the sector. In one of its episodes, Raimon Trias, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company, delves into the financial fundamentals that support the group’s business model and its ability to generate long-term value.

Predictable revenues and stable model
One of the main attractions of Cellnex’s model lies in the visibility of its revenues, an element especially valued in the investment field. As Trias explains, “we are a company with a very stable business model, based on highly predictable revenues and resilient margins.” This predictability is supported by long-term contracts, a structural characteristic that allows anticipating cash flows with a high degree of certainty.
These agreements, which extend over long periods, not only provide financial stability but also consolidate strategic relationships with the main operators in each market. The result is a robust business model, capable of sustaining continuous organic growth in an environment of high demand for connectivity and infrastructure deployment.

Protection against inflation and operational efficiency
The resilience of margins is another key pillar highlighted by the CFO. In this regard, the indexing of contracts to the consumer price index (CPI) acts as a protection mechanism against inflation. “Our contracts are linked to the CPI, which offers strong protection,” Trias emphasizes, highlighting the company’s ability to preserve its profitability in different economic cycles.
To this advantage is added a limited exposure to energy volatility, as these costs impact customers more than the company itself. Likewise, Cellnex operates with a broadly covered fixed cost base, which reinforces operational efficiency and helps maintain solid margins over time.

Sector consolidation and growth opportunities
The CFO’s analysis also addresses the consolidation process underway in the mobile operator sector in Europe. Far from representing a risk, this phenomenon is interpreted as a growth lever. The formation of larger groups with greater financial capacity favors investment in new infrastructures, a key factor for the continent’s digital development.
In this context, Cellnex positions itself as a strategic player capable of benefiting from this dynamic. The strengthening of operators drives demand for shared infrastructures, opening new expansion opportunities for the company and reinforcing its medium- and long-term growth prospects.

Capital discipline and efficient allocation
Capital discipline stands as one of the key pillars to evaluate the sustainability of Cellnex’s growth. The company has structured its strategy around a Capital Allocation Committee that sets clear criteria for decision-making in investment and financing matters. “A set of ‘golden rules’ and financial criteria has been established to optimize growth and profitability,” explains Trias.
The goal is to achieve a balance between strategic investment, financial strength, and shareholder remuneration. This approach allows the company to prioritize projects with higher returns and maintain rigorous control over its capital structure.

Debt reduction and financial strengthening
Within this policy, the deleveraging process takes a leading role. According to the CFO, the company has managed to reduce its leverage level by almost half since 2022, moving towards a target of between 5.0 and 6.0 times net debt over EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) by 2026. This evolution significantly improves Cellnex’s financial profile and strengthens its access to financing.
The commitment to investment grade is another key element of this strategy. Maintaining this rating allows the company to access debt markets under more favorable conditions and reduce financing costs in future refinancings. In line with this objective, Cellnex has expanded and refinanced its main syndicated credit line, increasing it to 2.8 billion euros and extending its maturity.

Rating agencies endorse this strength. S&P Global Ratings has confirmed the ‘BBB-’ rating with a positive outlook, while Fitch Ratings maintains the same level with a stable outlook, reinforcing market confidence in the company.
Shareholder remuneration
Value generation for the shareholder occupies a central place in Cellnex’s roadmap. After consolidating its financial structure, the company has activated a remuneration policy that combines dividends and share buybacks. “We will be able to fulfill our commitment to increase shareholder remuneration,” says Trias.
In this regard, Cellnex executed a share buyback program worth 1 billion euros in 2025. Looking ahead to 2026, the company has announced the start of a 500 million euro dividend, along with up to an additional 300 million in buybacks. Together, these initiatives represent an accumulated remuneration of up to 1.8 billion euros over two years, equivalent to a yield close to 9%.
