Three forest fires shake the interior of Castellón, in the comarca of l’Alt Maestrat, in the towns of Sierra de Engarcerán, Tírig, and Culla since last night, and the Generalitat Valenciana has declared situation 2 of the special forest fire plan of the Comunitat Valenciana. Likewise, the Emergency Coordination Center evacuated some farmhouses “preventively” last night and confined the municipality of Sierra de Engarcerán due to the smoke from the fire.

The evacuees were transferred to the sports center of Els Ibarsos, a district of this town. According to the Emergency Minister Juan Carlos Valderrama after the CECOPI meeting, the PMA is being moved to the town of Tírig, since the fire in Culla has already been stabilized. Serra d’Engarceran remains confined and 91 people have been evacuated, some of them in the sports center of Els Ibarsos. So far, 45 hectares have burned within a perimeter of 4 kilometers.
Neighbors were also sent the ES-Alert to inform them of the emergency situation, asking them to stay indoors, close doors and windows, as well as ventilation systems, and inviting them to get information only through official channels. Among the resources mobilized this Saturday are three URAF units from the Castelló Provincial Fire Consortium, in addition to eight units from this body; 20 units of the Generalitat Forest Firefighters; UME personnel; six command and coordination units of Castellón Firefighters; one command unit; a forest technician; an articulated water tender truck; and a complete Advanced Command Post (PMA) device from the Castellón Firefighters and the Generalitat.

At 09:00 a meeting of Cecopi began at the PMA deployed in the area, attended by the president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, the Government delegate, Pilar Bernabé, and the Emergency Minister, Juan Carlos Valderrama, as well as the president of the Castellón Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina. Pérez Llorca thanked the work and coordination of the different firefighting bodies and security forces working on the ground and highlighted the collaboration of town councils and neighbors of the affected areas.
