The apartment taken over by drug addicts in a building on Muntaner street has accumulated up to 49 interventions by the Mossos d’Esquadra so far this year. Most of these interventions are related to fights, arguments, and possession of narcotics.

This was denounced this Saturday by the president of the PP municipal group in Barcelona, Daniel Sirera, who demanded that the government of Mayor Jaume Collboni take all the measures provided by law in order to evict this dwelling as soon as possible.
“It is the City Council’s responsibility to put an end to the situation that the neighbors of that building are suffering – emphasized the popular councilor –. These 49 police interventions should be enough for the City Council to understand that we are facing a very serious coexistence problem. The neighbors cannot live locked in their homes and paying out of their own pockets for private security while the administrations argue about whether that can be called a drug den or not.”

Sirera recalls that Catalan legislation allows a homeowners’ association to report to the City Council occupations that disrupt coexistence so that the application of the procedure provided for in article 44 bis of Law 18/2007 can be studied and thus promote the eviction of this dwelling. “Collboni has to side with the neighbors and put the municipal legal services to work to find solutions, not excuses,” Sirera concludes.
