In addition, the head of the Consell has confirmed that the most likely hypothesis about the fire, which is still active, is that it was caused by human hands. Therefore, forest surveillance will be extraordinarily reinforced in extreme risk situations, increasing operational presence in the 78 prevention units, guaranteeing permanent surveillance in the different forest demarcations. This will involve incorporating 118 additional guards and more than 35,000 overtime hours of surveillance, with an investment exceeding 1.1 million euros.

On the other hand, the Generalitat, within the framework of recovering the affected area, will begin the development of a Comprehensive Reforestation and Environmental Recovery Plan with the aim of restoring the landscape, recovering biodiversity, consolidating soils, and protecting water resources.
Pérez Llorca has stated that “our duty is to return normality to the affected municipalities, protect those who live in our territory, and work so that the Valencian Community is an increasingly safe and better-prepared place against emergencies.”

The head of the Consell has explained that the decree determines that these initiatives will be direct and urgent, and for the granting of aid, a simple application will suffice, which can be submitted at the town hall itself. A responsible declaration will be accepted when the fire has prevented the preservation of documents, and payment will be made by direct transfer. Applications can be made from August 10, and interested parties will have three months to process the request.
Thus, he conveyed that “the Generalitat’s action will be structured around four main pillars: direct aid to affected people and sectors, extraordinary support to municipalities, reinforcement of forest prevention and surveillance, and a recovery and reforestation plan for the affected area.”
