The transfer of a large number of migrants remaining in the settlements on the beaches of Trampolín and Benítez began early this Friday. The security forces are accompanying a crowd towards the port facility, which only accommodates 1,800 people despite estimates that there are more than 4,000 between the two beaches. For this reason, moments of tension occurred as some migrants began to run and reinforcement from the National Police was necessary.

The operation started after 6:30 a.m. this Thursday with the deployment of several Civil Guard patrols on the Trampolín beach to proceed with their grouping and subsequent transfer to the new reception facility set up at the port.
The operation recorded moments of tension and lack of control during the initial movement. When the first groups reached the Benítez beach area, where another settlement is located, they joined the people who were there, considerably increasing the number of migrants advancing towards the port enclosure.
Reinforcements from the National Police
As the crowd advanced along the road next to the beach, the group first began to jog and, minutes later, to run, without the deployed agents initially being able to contain their advance.
The situation was brought under control upon reaching the end of Benítez beach closest to the industrial area that leads to the port, where the reception facility to which they are being transferred is located. At that point, reinforcements from the National Police joined, managing to stop the crowd.
The migrants currently remain in this area waiting for the agents to organize the group and resume the transfer in an orderly manner towards the port facilities.

The main problem facing the operation is the difference between the number of people remaining in the settlements and the capacity of the reception facilities. Estimates place the number of migrants currently living between the Trampolín and Benítez settlements at more than 4,000, while the resource enabled at the port has about 1,800 places.
Concern from the Government Delegation
Sources from the Government Delegation have expressed their concern about the risk of stampedes occurring during access to the enclosure, especially when the capacity limit is reached and some of the people participating in the transfer have to remain outside.
In previous operations of this nature, some migrants who could not access the resources tried to enter by force, which raises concerns about security during this Thursday’s operation.
An unaccompanied Moroccan minor hosted in Ceuta tests positive for monkeypox
A 13-year-old Moroccan teenager hosted in one of Ceuta’s youth centers has tested positive for mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, according to health sources confirmed to Europa Press. This is the first confirmed case of this disease in the autonomous city.
The minor is currently isolated in the center where he is hosted and is receiving treatment. His situation is being monitored by health services, which have taken the corresponding measures to prevent new infections, according to the same sources.
The positive result was confirmed this Thursday by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) after health authorities suspected the teenager might be infected and sent samples for analysis.
The young person is one of the minors who arrived in Ceuta during the mass entries recorded at the end of July. After symptoms compatible with the disease were detected, the diagnostic procedure was activated and samples were sent to the state reference body, which finally confirmed the infection.
Until now, Ceuta had not registered mpox cases since the outbreak began in Spain.
The activation of the port facility also comes a day after the National Court lifted the ban on its use, after the court had provisionally halted its operation due to doubts raised about its location next to infrastructures considered strategic.
