The chief of the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos d’Esquadra, Josep Naharro, stated this Tuesday that investigators are working with the hypothesis that the gunman who on Sunday afternoon emptied the magazine of his automatic pistol in Badalona aimed to “intimidate” a rival family in the drug market. And that “it was an accident” that one of the bullets ricocheted and injured a 10-year-old girl who was near Còrdoba street, in the Sant Roc neighborhood.

The Mossos commander warned that the investigation is ongoing, that the police are working, and although he did not deny that several witnesses claimed the individual fired directly at the minors, the police hypothesis is that the man, currently at large, shot at the wall of a building where trafficking occurs.
The investigation is very advanced, as the chief responsible for the northern metropolitan police region already warned on Sunday on the same Rac1 microphones, sharing concern about increasingly frequent incidents involving firearms and collateral victims, such as in this case, a 10-year-old girl.

The girl was hit by a bullet, with a clean entry and exit wound on the right elbow, and a bone fracture.
So far, the serious incident has not led to violent retaliation, although on the ground the Mossos from the Badalona police station are working in coordination with the municipal police, and specialists in mediation and proximity to try to preemptively quell any attempt at revenge.
