The children of an Irish couple in Cullera find their parents dead in a jacuzzi

The Civil Guard is investigating the death of an Irish couple, aged 50 and 45, whose bodies were found this Tuesday afternoon by their two minor children in the jacuzzi of the family home, located in a residential area of Cullera (Valencia). The bodies initially showed no obvious signs of violence, although investigators have detected some indications that could suggest that some unusual circumstance occurred and also that they may have consumed drugs before their death, among other hypotheses.

The discovery occurred around 5:00 p.m., when the two minors, aged 14 and 15, found their parents naked and lifeless in the jacuzzi of the house. After discovering the bodies, they alerted a neighbor, who then notified the Emergency 112 phone line.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of both adults. The removal of the bodies took place around 11:30 p.m., several hours after they were found, and autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday, which will be crucial to clarify the causes of death.

The investigation is being carried out by the Judicial Police Homicide team of the Civil Guard. Although the cause of death has not been established initially, sources from the Armed Institute have indicated that there is “some indication that something strange might have happened,” so all hypotheses remain open.

Sources close to the investigation point to the possible presence of drugs, although there is no official confirmation of this circumstance at the moment. The bodies showed some wounds that appeared to be puncture wounds, which has led investigators to consider different possibilities, including that the injuries could be related to substance use. However, accidental deaths are not ruled out either.

It will be precisely the results of the autopsies, along with toxicological tests and other police procedures, that will determine what happened inside the house and establish whether there is any connection between the observed injuries and the death of the couple.

The news was first reported by the newspaper Las Provincias, which also informed that the two minors have been placed under the care of the social services of the Cullera City Council. The teenagers have special needs, according to consulted sources, so municipal services have taken charge of their care following the death of their parents.

The investigation remains open pending forensic results and the procedures being carried out by the Civil Guard. For now, investigators have not confirmed that it is a homicide nor established a specific cause of death, so all hypotheses remain open.
