The unions and the Conselleria d’Educació have also not reached a preliminary agreement today to end the teachers’ strike, after the sixth meeting and ten days of strike, the fourth in all the centers of Catalunya. The Govern has conveyed to the teachers’ representatives that it needs more time to finish evaluating the economic proposal and has asked them to continue working tomorrow.

The Government has declared this Tuesday the territories affected by a total of 211 catastrophic episodes, mostly due to forest fires, that have occurred between March 31 and July 27, 2026, and that have caused damage in regions of fourteen autonomous communities, including Catalonia, as areas affected by a civil protection emergency. This declaration includes the current fires in the Community of Madrid and the provinces of Ávila and Toledo that prompted the declaration of a national interest emergency on July 23, the first time this decision has been made in emergencies derived from forest fires. Also the one recorded in the municipality of Vall d’Uixó in Castellón.

The federation of family associations of Catalonia (aFFaC) asks the Department of Education to promote a major agreement on public education outside the union negotiation table, an agreement in which families participate. They interpret the rejection of the pre-agreement in Thursday’s consultation by teachers as a lack of vision from the Government and unions to understand the teachers’ demands.

The open investigation against a couple detained for the alleged abuse of their baby points directly to the father. This is warned by the order issued by the third section of the Barcelona Court, which releases the mother and keeps the father in prison, considering him responsible for the acts. The investigators have identified two key elements that allow attributing the assaults on the baby to the father.
