“Lamine Yamal chose to incite against Israel and promote hatred while our soldiers fight the terrorist organization Hamas, which massacred, raped, burned, and killed Jewish children, women, and elderly on October 7,” the minister said in a message written in Spanish and published on his X account. “Those who support this type of message should ask themselves: Do they consider this humanitarian? Is this moral?” Katz wrote, adding that he will not remain silent in the face of what he called “incitement against Israel and the Jewish people.”

Katz also expressed his expectation that FC Barcelona will distance itself from the events and make it unequivocally clear that there is no place “for incitement or support for terrorism.”

His statements come after the 18-year-old player starred this week in one of the most talked-about images of the league title celebration in Barcelona, waving a Palestinian flag for several minutes that was handed to him by a fan.

The gesture was later shared by the footballer himself on his Instagram account, where he has more than 42 million followers, and has generated a wide impact on social media.
