Aznar recovers his "whoever can, let them do" after Zapatero's indictment

José María Aznar has also wanted to comment on the indictment of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero for alleged corruption crimes in the Plus Ultra case. The former Prime Minister has stated that in the “unsustainable” situation that Spain is going through, his phrase that “whoever can, should do” “makes more sense than ever.”

The phrase “whoever can, should do” was first said on November 2, 2023, to attack the PSOE’s agreement with the separatists for Pedro Sánchez’s investiture. That agreement included the Amnesty Law, and Aznar encouraged citizens to stop that initiative.

“More than ever, we need responsible citizens, committed to our country, willing to do, act, and serve our country to get out of this situation we are in,” Aznar continued, in a video published on Sunday through his social networks.

The former Prime Minister has thus appealed to citizens to act at a time when corruption cases surround Pedro Sánchez’s entire environment. Besides Zapatero, José Luis Ábalos has been tried in recent weeks, and Santos Cerdán and his wife Begoña Gómez and his brother David Sánchez also have legal problems.

However, Aznar, when he has had the opportunity, has also not advised Alberto Núñez Feijóo to launch a motion of no confidence. For the former PP leader as well, “there are no materials” now to present a motion of no confidence due to the parliamentary majorities, and he bets on waiting for elections.
