An 80-year-old man has died after being gored during the bous al carrer bullfighting festivities in the town of La Vilavella, Castellón.

The City Council has announced in a statement that it has agreed to suspend bullfighting events for three days during the Festa la Vila, following the “serious incident” that occurred during the festive events on Saturday.

The man, an 80-year-old local resident, was yesterday next to a barrier with vertical iron bars when he was surprised by a bull that gored him several times as he was about to reach the bars. He was taken to a healthcare center but ended up dying.

The council has expressed its “deepest condolences” to the family, friends, and close ones of the deceased.
It has agreed to suspend the bullfighting festivities for three days and only religious events will continue. It has also been decided to suspend the concert scheduled for tonight, which will be rescheduled to a date yet to be determined.
