Àlex Márquez will be discharged from the hospital this afternoon after successfully undergoing surgery for a fracture of the right clavicle. The Catalan rider suffered a dramatic fall yesterday in Montmeló, where he was thrown through the air during the GP of Catalunya race.

The clavicle was stabilized by inserting a plate at the Hospital General de Catalunya, as confirmed by the Gresini team on their social media.
The fall also caused a marginal fracture in the lower part of the neck. Specifically, in the seventh cervical vertebra (C7). A minor injury, so a full evaluation will be carried out this week.
Despite the serious accident, the Catalan rider avoided being hit by his own bike, which was practically disintegrated by the impact in the middle of the track.

The rider from Cervera did not lose consciousness and had to be treated by the championship medical staff at the accident site before being transferred by ambulance to the hospital center in Barcelona.
“Everything under control. I have to go through surgery tonight, but I couldn’t be in better hands. Thank you very much to everyone for your concern and for the messages of affection I am receiving,” Márquez said on his social media.
