Accidents and traffic jams mark the start of the second summer getaway operation

Several accidents and traffic jams are marking this Friday the start of the second special operation of the Summer Operation 2026, with 5.6 million trips expected.

According to the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT), which started its special operation at 3:00 p.m., several accidents are complicating traffic in the Valencian Community: one in Castellón, on the AP-7, in Benicàssim towards Valencia; and another in Manises (Valencia), on the AP-7 heading towards Castellón.

Another incident is hindering entry to Seville via the A-49 in Huévar de Aljarafe.

There are complications practically at all exits from Madrid, highlighting the A-1 in Venturada, the A-3 in Rivas; and also in Toledo, on the A-5 at the height of Maqueda and Santaolalla towards Extremadura. Traffic is also heavy on the A-2, in the municipality of Valbueno (Guadalajara) heading towards Zaragoza.

Also difficulties in Ávila, on the A-6 in Arévalo, heading to Tordesillas, as well as in Burgos entering via the AP-1 in Zuñeda. In the north, difficulties in Cantabria, on the A-8 in Laredo towards Asturias.

The Mediterranean area also records congestion, with complications in Barcelona, on the AP-7, at the height of Subirats heading towards Tarragona; but also in Valencia, exiting via the A-7, in Alginet and La Alcudia towards Alicante.

Precisely in Alicante, there is also slow traffic on the AP-7, in Algorfa.

Already in Andalusia, the A-7 records difficulties in Marbella (Málaga) heading out, but also in Cádiz, specifically in San Roque towards Algeciras.

And Seville presents a similar situation on the AP-4, in Las Cabezas de San Juan.

In the coming days, those starting and ending their vacations will converge on the roads along with the usual weekend traffic.
