The Firefighters have responded, between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. this Monday, to 129 alerts due to storms hitting various parts of Catalonia, especially the southwest of the territory. Up to 107 of the alerts have occurred in the province of Tarragona. Most of the incidents involve fallen trees and branches, minor floods, and snapping cables. The rains, accompanied by strong gusts of wind and hail, have left more than 20 liters per square meter in some areas in half an hour. In the city of Tarragona, for example, the heavy downpour has flooded some avenues.

The Catalan Water Agency has issued a hydrological risk warning in the Baix Camp region and has asked people not to approach rivers, streams, and ravines.
Meanwhile, the 112 emergency number has received a total of 373 calls by 7 p.m., which have generated 259 reports, 70% of them in the Tarragonès region.
Additionally, the R14, R15, R16, R17, RT1, and RT2 lines between Tarragona and Torredembarra have been cut.

The storm cells are very intense in the Camp de Tarragona area and are moving towards Penedès and the metropolitan area of Barcelona, so Civil Protection has asked that precautions be heightened during travel and that flood-prone areas not be crossed.
In a message on his X account, the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, warned that the storms “remain very intense” in the Camp de Tarragona and continue moving from south to north, so that one of their “strongest” cells has entered the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
Given this situation, Illa has called for “maximum caution,” especially when traveling, to follow the instructions of emergency services, not to approach rivers, streams, or ravines, and not to park in flood-prone areas.
