Dozens of Ceuta residents stormed the Trampolín beach this Thursday and destroyed and burned the improvised migrant camp set up in the area.

Earlier, a group of protesters, who supported a call that has gone viral in recent hours among groups of Ceuta residents, blocked this afternoon the passage of Red Cross vehicles carrying food for the immigrants remaining at Trampolín Beach. “The more of us there are, the more pressure we will make,” read the call to prevent food and water from reaching their destination, as every afternoon.

The sit-in on the avenue leading to Trampolín Beach was led by about a hundred residents, who express their frustration with the situation in the city as it approaches one month since the mass crossing. With the slogan “Ceuta is not for sale, Ceuta is defended,” the protesters believe that “if those who entered irregularly continue to be fed,” they will “never return to their country.” The trucks had to turn around to take another route to reach Trampolín.
