A downpour, forecasted by the orange alert, has paralyzed Valencia. The magnitude of the deluge has forced the closure of the airport in Manises due to flooding in the facilities. The railway network has also been affected with cuts on some metro sections, and the sixth round La Liga match between Levante and Athletic Bilbao, scheduled for 9:30 p.m., has been suspended.
One of the concerns at this time is the increase in flow of the Poyo ravine, the same one that caused the tragedy of the October 2024 DANA. At the close of this edition, several towns that already suffered the punishment of the DANA have again seen their streets flooded, such as Torrent, Paiporta, or Catarroja, with no personal tragedies reported.
Additionally, the Generalitat Emergency Coordination Center has activated situation 1 of the Special Flood Plan in the Valencian Community and the yellow-level hydrological pre-emergency in the Carraixet-Calderona area, affecting the northern districts of Valencia, whereby the City Council activates its planned measures and strengthens coordination of all municipal services in response to the situation’s development, including the Local Police and firefighters.
Furthermore, Civil Protection sent, at 10:08 p.m., an Es-Alert to mobile phones in the province of Valencia warning of flood risk, asking to avoid travel, stay away from riverbeds and ravines, respect established traffic closures, and in case of rising water levels, move to upper floors in homes.

So far, there are no reports of significant incidents due to the downpour that began falling intensely and continuously around nine o’clock at night in Valencia and its metropolitan area.
According to the Valencia Traffic Management Center, the heavy rain forced, late this afternoon, a reduction in traffic speed on roads such as the Valencia bypass, the CV-35, and highways A-3 and A-7, so far without any notable or significant incidents.
Sources have emphasized that the increased traffic on these roads is due both to the intensity of some downpours and to reduced visibility for drivers.

Metrovalencia, for its part, reports that the rain is causing problems on several lines, specifically on L1 and L2 where service is interrupted between Empalme and Bétera and between Empalme and Llíria, with widespread delays on all lines.
According to the Valencian Meteorology Association (Avamet), very intense storms are already being recorded in southern Castellón and northern Valencia, with lightning and rainfall records such as 85 l/m2 in L’Eliana-Pinaeta del Cel, 70 of which fell in just half an hour, between 8:25 p.m. and 8:55 p.m.
Other important records so far, also reported from Avamet meters, are 59 l/m2 in Chiva, 56 in Calicanto and Llíria, 50 in L’Eliana, 47 in Domeño, 44 in Riba-roja de Túria, 38 in Benaguasil, 37 in La Pobla de Vallbona, and 33 in Montanejos/Alpuente.
The State Meteorological Agency has maintained the orange alert (significant danger) active since this afternoon in the province of Valencia (except the southern coast) and the southern interior of Castellón due to accumulated precipitation of 40 liters per square meter in one hour.
Additionally, there is a yellow alert (low danger) in the rest of the provinces of Castellón and Valencia for rain up to 30 liters in one hour.
In the provinces of Castellón and Valencia, storms accompanied by hail up to two centimeters were forecast for this afternoon.
