The UCO asks the judge to delve into the finances of the PSOE and PSC for 2024 and 2025

The Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard has requested the judge to delve deeper into the financial movements of both the PSOE and the PSC over the last two years. In a written statement, the agents intend for instructor Santiago Pedraz to give them the green light to request the banking and tax movements of the socialists in search of alleged money diversions that could have ended up in the hands of the plot led by former organization secretary Santos Cerdán and his right-hand woman Leire Díez.

The UCO takes this new step after a possible payment of 20,000 euros was detected to a website created by the plot for its activities, in concept of advertising for Salvador Illa’s campaign in the 2024 Catalan elections.

“Taking into account the references that said payments (to the Crónica Libre website) could have been made through an advertising campaign in Catalonia, it is considered necessary to delve into the economic operations that could have been maintained with both the PSOE and the PSC.”

The UCO asks judge Santiago Pedraz, who is investigating this plot, to request banking entities to provide “all information, movements and balances held in their databases,” from 2024 to the present, related to current or savings accounts of the PSOE.”

Additionally, it requests the same information about eight accounts of former Andalusian vice president Gaspar Zarrías and the two investigated lawyers, Jacobo Teijelo and Ismael Oliver – more than 60 -, all of them investigated for allegedly being part of this network led by Cerdán.

The investigators thus want to delve into the accounts of some of those investigated in an alleged plot that sought to destabilize judicial cases against the Government and the PSOE, allegedly led by former socialist leader Santos Cerdán and coordinated by former militant Leire Díez and which, according to the UCO, would have been financed by the party.

They also want to search the Tax Agency, to find out how these movements have been declared. Specifically, they intend for the magistrate to order the delivery of information regarding almost fifteen natural or legal persons, among whom also figure communication companies, the media outlet Crónica Libre or several companies of lawyer Oliver.

The UCO intends to know bank accounts, collections, dispositions, incomes, investment funds, securities, insurance, movable or immovable property, corporate relationships, assets abroad, invoices, donations, pension funds, intra-community operations, rented safe deposit boxes, tax situation or tax declarations, among other data.

The agents also ask the judge to request the entities of the IKI Group to report on the “commercial relations” maintained with the PSOE and the PSC in 2024 and 2025, by providing contracts, invoices or payment receipts.

The UCO thus wants to delve into the alleged payment of 20,000 euros by the PSOE that would have been authorized by former socialist leader Santos Cerdán to the media outlet ‘Crónica Libre’ through a third agency “framing the payment within an advertising campaign” in Catalonia in the framework of the 2024 Parliament elections.

The official letter explains that “economic relations” of Crónica Libre with the company IKI Group Communications for 18,125 euros in 2024 have been found. It also adds that during the information request that the UCO sent to the PSOE last week, “commercial operations” of the party with the company IKI Media Solutions were identified.

For all these reasons, the UCO sees it “necessary to delve into the economic operations that could have been maintained with both the PSOE and the PSC.”
