Macro operation by the Mossos d’Esquadra in Girona against drug trafficking. The Catalan police have deployed 600 agents in at least a dozen operations to dismantle a criminal organization based in the province of Girona dedicated to indoor marijuana cultivation and drug distribution. The organization is also being investigated for possession of weapons and money laundering.

The Mossos have so far carried out several raids on homes in Girona, Cassà de la Selva, Riudarenes, L’Escala, Sils, Caldes de Malavella, Brunyola, Llagostera, Bescanó, Celrà, Quart, and Salt. The number of detainees in the operation and the quantities of drugs, weapons, or money seized have not yet been disclosed.
The operation, which began around four in the morning, is still ongoing
In the Font de la Pólvora neighborhood of Girona, at least two searches have been conducted in two homes, one of them located at number 1 Font de la Pólvora Avenue. According to the Catalan News Agency (ACN), the agents found an indoor marijuana plantation in one of the two homes.
Precisely in this neighborhood in the east of the city, a tragic episode occurred on the night of San Juan 2024 that ended with two people shot dead and two others seriously injured. The main suspect in that double murder, who was arrested three months after the events in Pinos Puente (Granada), used an assault rifle.

In the deployment, which started around four in the morning, members of the DIC, BRIMO, ARRO, Scientific Police, Canine Police, and the Citizen Security corps, among others, are participating. The Investigation Division has reported that the police operation remains active.
