Two people have died and another four have been injured in a shooting that occurred on Monday at 11:15 p.m. in the town of El Ejido, Almería. According to Ideal de Almería, the shooter, who has already been arrested, is the son of the two deceased. Among the injured are two babies, one of them the son of the arrested man. One baby — it has not been disclosed whether this is the one related to the attacker or not — is in the ICU.

On Monday night, 112 received a call reporting the incident, which took place in the El Canalillo area, near the neighboring town of Balanegra. The Civil Guard rushed to the scene. Several medical teams also arrived to attend to the injured in the apparent brawl.
One of the injured is a man of North African origin who intervened between the detainee and the victims to protect the babies.

Ideal de Almería adds that the detainee has been transferred to a psychiatric unit. It is not ruled out that the perpetrator of the crime acted under the influence of a mental health episode.
