The Government will register this morning in the Congress the requests for appearances just the day after the Popular parliamentary group registered the same requests for appearances yesterday, duplicated and simultaneously, in the Congress and in the Senate.

The Executive, sources indicate, has decided to appear this very August in the “constitutionally prevailing” chamber, the Congress of Deputies, to “avoid duplications and taking into account the importance and scope of the issue.”

Thus, the Government will propose to the president of the Congress that the Minister of Defense appear on August 25, the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes on the 27th, and the Ministers of the Interior and Foreign Affairs on the 28th, in their respective committees.

Likewise, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will preside this Friday over a telematic coordination meeting with several ministers on the situation in Ceuta. Sánchez has convened this meeting, in which he will participate from the La Mareta residence, in Lanzarote.

The meeting will be attended by the Minister of Defense, the Minister of the Interior, the Government spokesperson and head of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, Elma Saiz; and the Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Diego Martínez, has also been summoned, since the head of the department, José Manuel Albares, is traveling in Colombia accompanying the king for the inauguration of the new president of the country, Abelardo de la Espriella.
