Two women dead trying to save a 3-year-old boy who was drowning in a reservoir in Baños de Cerrato (Palencia)

Two women have died this Sunday after trying to pull a three-year-old boy out of the water who was drowning in the dam of the town of Baños de Cerrato, in the municipality of Venta de Baños.

The incident took place around 18:35 hours, when the 112 emergency room received a call reporting that the child was drowning and a person was trying to pull him out of the water but could not.

112 forwarded the alert to the Firefighters of the Palencia Provincial Council; the Palencia Firefighters; the Civil Guard (COS) of Palencia; Health Emergencies – Sacyl, which mobilized a mobile ICU, and the Emergency Coordination Center, which took charge of coordinating the incident.

Later, during the follow-up of the incident, the caller indicated that two adult women had died, while the firefighters of the Palencia Provincial Council reported that the child is safe.

The Civil Protection and Emergency Agency of the Junta de Castilla y León has activated the Psychological Intervention Group in Disasters and Emergencies (Gripde) at the site. Emergency services are working in the area.
