On this new path, the President of the United States said in an interview for a ‘The New York Post’ podcast that he does not rule out, and even hopes, to meet with the Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Jamenei, and that the leaders facing off in the war “are getting along quite well” despite the stalemate in the talks.
Mojtaba, 56 years old, has not been seen in public since the armed conflict began on February 28 with the airstrikes by the U.S. and Israel that ended the life of his father, the then Supreme Leader Ali Jamenei, as well as other members of his family and the regime.
“Yes, I would like to meet with him. I would love to meet with everyone. I would like to meet with him and we will probably meet at some point, depending on how things develop,” he responded. The Republican politician emphasized that, in any case, he does not plan to send troops to that country.
Trump has already demonstrated his unconventional way by maintaining face-to-face contacts with other adversaries of the so-called ‘axis of evil’, since, according to his view, this approach breaks with traditional norms to forge safer relations for the U.S.
During his first term, Trump exchanged “love letters” with the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un, who possesses nuclear weapons, with whom he met on three occasions. He even planned to invite the Taliban leaders to Camp David to discuss peace in Afghanistan, although he gave up due to the uproar it caused.

Trump’s turnaround would be surprising if it were not Trump. Today he says he wants to meet with Mojtaba when, before his GPS broke down in this war, he despised him by calling him a lightweight and an unacceptable option to lead Iran. He even speculated that rumors about his homosexuality gave him “a bad start in that country.” According to the New York tabloid, the U.S. president and his advisers laughed when they received unconfirmed intelligence agency information about the sexual orientation of the current Supreme Leader.

Tehran announced on Monday that it was suspending those talks due to Israel’s operation in its advance towards Beirut. Uncertainty still remains, with no shortage of military actions carried out by the U.S. and the Islamic regime.
Netanyahu downplayed that reprimand. “Sometimes we have disagreements,” he replied.
