Three civil guards were injured this Wednesday when their patrol boat was rammed by a drug-running speedboat that was intercepted in Cabo Cope, in the municipality of Águilas, and whose two occupants have been arrested.
According to the Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC), the events occurred when the detainees tried to avoid being captured. Of the three officers, one required five stitches, although the extent of the injuries has not been disclosed.

The Government delegate in Murcia, Francisco Lucas, said on X that he has spoken with and expressed his recognition to the captain of the Civil Guard Maritime Service and the other two officers injured during the operation.
The boat, equipped with two engines, was carrying 20 jerrycans of gasoline and was located as part of a large maritime, aerial, and land operation, according to the Government Delegation.
These two arrests add to two others made on Monday in Cartagena. In that operation, agents of the Civil Guard Maritime Service surprised another boat when it was 12 miles southeast of Monte Cenizas.

Francisco Lucas reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to fighting organizations dedicated to these activities and emphasized that the security forces maintain “firm and constant surveillance over the coast of the Region of Murcia to combat the actions of the mafias.”
Since August 15, operations related to arrivals by sea of immigrants show a total of eight boats and about three hundred people who have reached the coast of this community.
Regarding the injuries suffered this Wednesday by the officers, the AUGT has criticized that “while the Government looks the other way, our colleagues risk their lives with inferior means against organized drug trafficking.”
