Madrid will take to the streets this afternoon to celebrate Spain’s victory in the Football World Cup, with the second star for ‘La Roja’, in a party that will have the Plaza de Cibeles as its epicenter and with an expected attendance of more than 60,000 according to calculations by the Madrid City Council, causing inevitable repercussions on pedestrian and motorized mobility in the area, such as the progressive closure of Cibeles since midnight and effects on the Carlos V roundabout. The bus route with the 2026 World Cup champions will depart from Plaza de Moncloa and end at Cibeles.

The City Council has designed a special security and mobility plan that includes the occupation of the Cibeles surroundings and inevitable repercussions on pedestrian and motorized mobility in the area. The celebration of the victory will be this Monday, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Cibeles and its surroundings and is expected to have more than 60,000 attendees.
The stage assembly work began early this morning and its dismantling is scheduled for Tuesday early morning. For this reason, since midnight, traffic is being progressively closed in Plaza de Cibeles, Paseo de Recoletos, Paseo del Prado between Plaza de Neptuno and Plaza de Cibeles, affecting mobility at the Emperador Carlos V roundabout.
Alcalá Street will also be affected between Plaza de Cibeles and Plaza de la Independencia and between this and Cedaceros Street. There will also be closures on Gran Vía between Alcalá and Hortaleza streets, affecting mobility at Plaza de España, Princesa, and Ventura Rodríguez.
Traffic closures on these and adjacent streets may be extended or modified depending on the crowd size and the needs perceived by the authorities.
Reinforcement on night lines
The Madrid City Council recommends that citizens who want to travel to the celebration area use public transport. Reinforcement of Metro lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 is expected until the end of service, as well as staff at stations to inform and assist travelers. For security reasons, the Banco de España Metro station is also expected to be closed.

Some lines of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT Madrid) will be diverted due to the celebration. The diverted section of each line is published on the EMT Madrid incident website. The City Council has arranged up to ten buses during the night period to meet possible increases in demand.
Seven people arrested in the capital
Although the streets of Madrid and all of Spain were filled with people, only seven people were arrested in the capital, according to the Government delegation. The party lasted well into the early morning, but there were hardly any incidents. The Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, has thanked “the responsible behavior of the vast majority of Madrid’s citizens.” During the celebration, no “serious public order disturbances” were recorded.
The celebration will also affect several Bicimad stations, with bases 86, 94, 106A, 106B, 10, 93, 104, and 20A located in Cibeles, the Recoletos train station, those located in Plaza de Colón, Marqués de la Ensenada, and Plaza de Margaret Thatcher, Castellana with Hermosilla, and Banco de España out of service.
Additionally, traffic closures may affect access to the Serrano III, Sevilla, Recoletos, Las Cortes, and Plaza del Rey parking lots. Regarding taxi service, stops located at Paseo del Prado, 1; Plaza de la Lealtad, 2; Barquillo, 1; Marqués de Casa Riera, 2; and Clavel, 2 will be affected.
