“I spoke with Spain and congratulated them on having a great team,” Trump assured, who did not clarify if the comment was made to his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sánchez, who was today in the box at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey where the final was played and who has been photographed shaking hands with the President of the United States after several months of statements and tension between both countries.
Trump also shook hands with the kings of Spain at the start of the 2026 World Cup final between la Roja and Argentina, in a box of honor where the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, were also present, as well as representatives of the institutions organizing the 2026 World Cup.
