The initiative revolves around a three-dimensional recreation of the work The Shootings of May 3rd, which allows the visitor to delve into one of the most representative episodes of Madrid’s resistance against the Napoleonic occupation. The goal is to transform the traditional visit into a participatory experience that combines history, art, and technology.

During the day, the museum will also have the presence of a historian who will offer explanations about the social context of the time and Goya’s artistic interpretation, in order to bring the public closer to the meaning of the work and the popular uprising.

Among the planned activities stands out ‘Goya’s Shadow’, an installation that invites visitors to place themselves in the painter’s point of view facing the scene to understand the composition of the work. Added to this is the ‘Book of Proclamations’, where the public can write down their reflections around the question “Why would you fight today?”, establishing a parallel between the ideals of 1808 and those of today.

With this proposal, the museum seeks to reinforce its role as a cultural and leisure space during one of the weekends with the highest tourist influx in the capital, coinciding with the May holiday weekend. All activities are included in the entrance fee during this Saturday’s day.
