20 years later, Real Madrid will carry out the ritual of democracy to choose its president in an election. Everything points, according to the deadlines established by the statutes of the white club, to June 7 as the day of the elections.

The last time the Madridista social mass exercised their right to vote to elect a president was in 2006, when Ramón Calderón was the most voted candidate, ahead of Juan Palacios, Juan Miguel Villar Mir, Lorenzo Sanz, and Arturo Baldasano.
These are the deadlines in the electoral process that will lead to the elections, once the candidacies have been presented, presumably those of Florentino Pérez and Enrique Riquelme, in accordance with the provisions of the Real Madrid social statutes.
The starting gun for the elections was the call on May 14, when Real Madrid officially called the elections, two days after Florentino Pérez’s absurd press conference.
Presentation and proclamation of candidacies
From May 14 to 24
From May 14 to 23, 2026, candidacies will be presented, with the requirements and during the hours contained in the electoral rules.
The day after the presentation of each candidacy, they will be admitted and proclaimed (Sunday, May 24, at the latest).
Candidates must have 20 years of seniority in the club and a board of at least 9 people including a vice president with at least 15 years of membership seniority and the rest of the board members, at least 10 years.

They must also present a guarantee of 15% of the budget, that is, about 187 million, which must be presented with a bank guarantee before Saturday, May 23.
Appeal against the proclamation
Two days after the publication of the proclamation
Appeals against the proclamation or rejection of candidacies must be submitted to the Electoral Board, in accordance with the electoral rules, within two calendar days following the notification and publication of the proclamation or rejection of the same; that is, Monday, May 25 and Tuesday, May 26.
Date of the elections
The date will be within 15 days following the acceptance of the last candidacy
If more than one candidacy is proclaimed, the Electoral Board will make public the date and place of the voting.
The date for the elections must be within a period never exceeding 15 days following the presentation of the candidacies (May 23), but it is also estimated not to be less. This would lead to June 7 as the expected day for the voting.
Electoral census
Closed on May 18
Real Madrid members could check their inclusion or exclusion in the electoral census from May 14 to 18, 2026, through the Online Member Service Office (2026 President Elections), or at the Member Service Offices.
Likewise, members could file claims before the Electoral Board regarding their inclusion or exclusion in the electoral census from May 14 to 18, 2026.
