The secretary general of the PSOE of Madrid and Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, Óscar López, announced this Friday that PSOE-M will file a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office for economic crimes directed against the board of directors of the regional public company Planifica Madrid for the purchase of the penthouse in Chamberí.

“We are starting all legal actions,” López warned in statements to the media from the PSOE headquarters in Ferraz, where he described the matter as “very very serious.”
In the words of the secretary general of the Madrid PSOE, the goal is “to get Mrs. Ayuso to resign,” as well as to ensure that all criminal responsibilities in this matter are dissolved and that “every last euro is returned to the pockets of the Madrilenians.”
The controversy arose at the end of July after it was revealed that Planifica Madrid acquired a luxury penthouse in the Madrid district of Chamberí, which was later known to have cost more than six million euros.
Opposition parties such as Más Madrid and the PSOE denounced that the purchase was motivated by the interest in providing the president with a high-level private residence or space. Against the initial justifications of the regional administration — which framed the operation as a temporary workspace due to renovations at the institutional headquarters of the Real Casa de Correos — the left criticized the opacity of the transaction, the high expenditure of public funds, and the use of a residential property as an office, pointing out possible irregularities regarding municipal urban planning regulations.

In response to the accusations, the Madrid Executive and Ayuso herself distanced themselves from the direct management of the purchase, assuring that it was an ordinary decision of the corresponding regional body and categorically denying any intention to use the property for personal purposes.
To try to stop the political wear and media pressure, the Community of Madrid announced the sale of the penthouse with the argument of allocating the proceeds to the reconstruction of the municipalities affected by the fires in the Sierra Oeste.
However, the matter remains at the center of political debate due to the opposition’s demands for transparency and the submission of administrative and judicial investigation initiatives.
