The president of Ceuta, the popular Juan Jesús Vivas, has reiterated his criticisms of the Government, which he has accused of “whitewashing the reality” that the autonomous city is experiencing, and has announced that he will turn to “other State instances,” including the judiciary, if the Executive does not resolve the crisis within 30 days.

“We are going to turn to other State instances, we have the obligation to do so, to the General Courts, to the judiciary, to the Autonomous Communities, to the Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, to business organizations, to the unions, to whoever is necessary, because we are not going to give up, and, of course, to Europe,” Vivas said in a statement after convening his government council.
“I intend to convey the situation, simply so that they know it, to the president of the Supreme Court, if she wants to receive me, and to the president of the Constitutional Court simply to say, listen, Ceuta is in danger,” he clarified later.

Vivas’s words come shortly after the Minister of Health, Mónica García, who was in the autonomous city yesterday, lamented on TVE that the Ceuta Government has not yet enabled safe spaces to house migrants and maintain a controlled public health situation, as was done in 2021, to monitor the people attended to and, in case of an outbreak, to treat it.
Vivas is currently receiving the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, Elma Saiz, after which a statement is scheduled from the also spokesperson of the central Government, who participated remotely early this morning in a meeting with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and five other ministers.
