The Government has attributed the “call effect” that occurred on the morning of this Friday, amid strong tension, to the legal dispute resolved on Wednesday and Thursday in the National Court – following a complaint by the Unified Police Union (SUP) – due to the opening of the new camp in the facilities set up in the port of Ceuta, where more than 1,700 immigrants have been relocated to begin the process of their identification, a month and a half after the migratory avalanche that took place at the border of the autonomous city on July 30 and 31.

Unlike previous occasions, the Executive has not managed to carry out the reception of hundreds and thousands of immigrants with the required discretion, due in its opinion to the “publicity” given to the entire immigrant relocation operation by the legal dispute in which, finally, the National Court authorized the opening of the facilities on Thursday. Thousands of immigrants – many more than the places available in the new facilities at the port – knew that the relocation was imminent, this very Friday, and crowded to secure a spot, which caused scenes of great tension, running, and charges by law enforcement forces, until the operation was organized.
