The capital injection will serve, on the one hand, to finance the first phase of the remodeling works of the Montjuïc spaces with up to 125 million euros. In addition, it will allow for 95 million to complete the construction project of Hall Zero at the Gran Via venue, which should be ready by early 2027.

This syndicated loan also had to be approved by the other institutional partners of the company Fira 2000: the Barcelona City Council, the L’Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council, and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB). The repayment period will be 20 years, including four years of grace.

These 615 million in investment also include the rehabilitation works of the Alfons XIII pavilion and the construction of a new multifunctional pavilion in Montjuïc, which must be completed by 2029, coinciding with the centenary celebration of the 1929 International Exhibition.

This expansion will place Fira de Barcelona among the list of major European venues along with Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hannover, Munich, and Milan. Major events hosted each year at the venue, such as the Mobile World Congress or ISE, eagerly await the completion of these new facilities, which will allow them to grow even more in the Catalan capital. They will have to wait until 2028 to be able to use the new pavilion.
