The Princess of Girona Awards ceremony crowns the Foundation’s activities over the past year and is also the most important event that Princess Leonor stars in Catalonia. To attend the Board meeting, Queen Letizia chose a blue pantsuit from the Woman Limited brand of El Corte Inglés, which also designed the orange, almost red, suit worn by Princess Leonor, while Infanta Sofía opted for a white pantsuit from the French brand Octobre Éditions. The three formed a color set that, depending on how they were arranged, formed the colors of the French flag, whose team faces Spain tonight in the semifinal match of the 26th Football World Cup.

At the meeting and subsequent lunch, held at the Eurostars Grand Marina hotel in Barcelona, more than 90 trustees of the FPdGI attended, in addition to the President of the Generalitat and honorary vice president of the foundation, Salvador Illa. During the meeting, a review was made of the activity carried out during the first half of the year and efforts to continue promoting the organization’s evolution with new additions and a governance structure even more action-oriented.
The Board approved the incorporation of three new members: Fundación Caja Canarias, Cajamar Caja Rural, and the music company GTS Talent, which strengthen the territorial and sectoral diversity of this governing body of the Foundation. With these additions, the Board reaches 115 members, reinforcing the connection with different economic and social fields.
The meeting also served to assess the impact of programs promoted by the FPdGI, including the Special Intervention Plan of Valencia, as well as the results of initiatives deployed within the framework of the Talent Tour.

Another relevant agreement adopted was the reorganization of the Delegated Commission, with the aim of strengthening its executive character. All its members will assume direct responsibility for a specific work area linked to the Foundation’s strategic projects. For this same reason, three new working groups have been established. The first will be dedicated to the field of sports values, a line that includes, among other initiatives, the Princess of Girona Award for the Values of Young Athletes, and will be led by Carlos Godó, president of the Godó Group.
The second working group will focus on the mobilization of young talent, which includes the Talent Tour and will be chaired by José Luis Rodríguez Escrig, general director of Fundación Ibercaja. Finally, there will be a third working group dedicated to art and emotional well-being. This new space will be led by Anna Vallès, president of the Sorigué Foundation and one of the leading figures in the cultural field.

With these agreements, the FPdGI continues advancing in the deployment of its 2026-2029 roadmap and in strengthening its capacity for impact in service of young people, promoting governance that is increasingly diverse, active, and committed to future challenges.
This afternoon, at the Liceu ceremony, the Princess of Girona awards will be presented, which on this occasion have been awarded to the president and founder of the Associació Joves Units del Poble-Sec Hatim Azahri; the co-founder, president, and CTO of Benviro, Patricia Aymà; filmmaker Gemma Blasco; researcher and exoplanet expert Rafael Luque; social entrepreneur and co-founder of Quipu, Mercedes Bidart; and astrophysicist José Eduardo Méndez. Their stories reflect different ways of transforming talent into real impact in fields such as science, research, entrepreneurship, artistic creation, or social action.
