Spain added the eighth medal of its Birmingham World Championship with a bronze in the mixed 4×100. The Spanish team, made up of Guillem Crespí, Maribel Pérez, Andoni Crespí, and Jaël Bestué, crossed the finish line in 40.42, a mark that represents a new Spanish record.

Great Britain took the gold with a time of 39.97, a new European record, while Germany completed the podium with the bronze medal.
The Spanish relay celebrated with emotion a medal that came after a demanding week. “I was celebrating because after handing over I couldn’t tell where we were and then I realized. Incredible, incredible,” explained Andoni Calbano.
Guillem Crespí highlighted the good performance of the team. “All the exchanges went very well. After the championship we’ve had, finishing like this is a joy,” he said.

Maribel Pérez also acknowledged the nerves before the race, although she always trusted the quartet’s chances. “Very happy. There were nerves, but I always believed we could do it. It was an amazing relay,” she said.
Jaël Bestué admitted that she barely had references during her leg. “I was running and didn’t see anyone. When I reached the finish line I couldn’t believe it. We were able to switch gears after a difficult week and we achieved a very important reward,” she explained.
Calbano summed up the value of the Spanish performance. “Finishing third and setting a record is incredible. We have worked hard for it,” he concluded.
