A new Russian bombing on Kyiv and the surrounding region of the Ukrainian capital caused at least 14 deaths, 27 injuries, and damage to several warehouses in the area in the early hours of this Wednesday, according to authorities and emergency services in Ukraine. Russia, for its part, confirmed that it had carried out a “massive attack” on several military logistics centers.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, their attack “hit transportation, logistics, and distribution centers used for the storage and delivery of military weaponry, as well as for the production and distribution of unmanned aerial vehicles.”
For their offensive, it added in its statement, Russian forces used precision weapons launched from the ground, that is, missiles, as well as drones.
The Kyiv military administration, for its part, stated that the Russian attacks began shortly after midnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. Russian missiles and drones struck seven different locations.
The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, said the bombings caused fires in warehouses and storage areas, although he did not specify what was stored in them. He added that a large fire broke out on the outskirts of the city and that debris from a fallen missile impacted near a residential building.

According to local authorities, one person died in Kyiv, while another 24 were injured. The other 13 deaths were recorded in the region surrounding the Ukrainian capital. However, it is not ruled out that the death toll may rise. “There may still be more people under the rubble,” Klitschko said after emergency services rescued two people from the ruins of a destroyed warehouse near the city center.
The attack also caused an ammonia leak that emergency teams were trying to control on the morning of this Wednesday, explained the military administration.
Ukraine failed to intercept a single Russian missile during the new nighttime attack. According to the Ukrainian Air Force’s count, the Russian army fired 115 drones and 28 missiles. 98 of these drones were shot down, but, on the other hand, no missile interceptions were reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been asking his allies for weeks to strengthen the aid they provide to Kyiv to stop the Russian missiles. Ukraine has warned of the severe shortage of anti-aircraft ammunition it suffers from.
