Murtra appoints Alfonso Gómez new CEO of Movistar+

Alfonso Gómez, until now head of Telefónica Hispanoamérica’s businesses, will be the new CEO of Movistar+ replacing Daniel Domenjó, who was one of Marc Murtra’s first hires at the company.

The decision was made this Thursday by the Board of Directors, which has resorted to an internal candidate to boost the television content platform in line with what Murtra demanded on Wednesday in the first meeting with the 700 main executives in Madrid. 

As reported by El Economista and confirmed by La Vanguardia, Domenjó will leave the group in the coming months to undertake new projects.

Gómez’s arrival at Movistar +, who will join the company’s board of directors, places him at the forefront of one of the platform’s main challenges, which is to seek new sustainable business strategies in the audiovisual and digital area.
