A fire declared this afternoon in the Murcian districts of Los Garres and Lages has triggered the activation of the Infomur Plan in emergency phase, situation two. At 15:10 hours, 1-1-2 received more than 200 calls alerting about a tongue of fire on the mountainside, according to the Emergency Coordination Center.

Personnel from the Infomur Plan and two helicopters from the Directorate General of Citizen Security and Emergencies, a surveillance and control helicopter (ACOVI), a forest brigade from the Forest Fire Defense Unit (UDIF) along with environmental agents from the Directorate General of Natural Heritage and Climate Action have been deployed to the site. Additionally, five Civil Protection teams and eight fire extinguishing and rescue vehicles from the Murcia City Council, Civil Guard, and Local Police are also in the area.

The Government delegate, Francisco Lucas, has confirmed that the Ministry for the Ecological Transition (MITECO) has sent a coordination aircraft, two Alfa planes, a water bomber, and a helicopter from Jaén, Requena, and Torrejón. The regional government president, Fernando López Miras, has confirmed that more resources have been requested from Castilla-La Mancha and the Valencian Community, and as a collaboration in the extinguishing tasks, assistance has also been requested from the Military Emergency Unit (UME).
Therefore, the UME has mobilized units from the Third Emergency Intervention Battalion (BIEM III), located at the Jaime I Military Base facilities, in the municipality of Bétera (Valencia).

Meanwhile, the Murcia City Council has begun evacuating nearby homes, as explained by the mayor, Rebeca Pérez, on social media. They have also asked citizens to follow the instructions of the agents in the area, not to cross security perimeters, and to keep evacuation routes clear. Likewise, they have asked them to be alert for possible preventive evacuations.
This fire occurs while the Vega del Segura is under an orange alert for high temperatures issued by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), an alert that started at 14:00 hours and will end at 20:00 hours.
