María Jesús Montero, until a few weeks ago vice president of the Government, will leave her seat as a deputy in the Congress and will take her seat in the Andalusian parliament when it is constituted.

Montero has said that she will lead the opposition while opening a period of reflection on the poor result obtained in these elections and on how the socialist party can recover much of the ground lost in recent years.
Montero, in an interview on Ser, has asked for time to be able to change the way the Andalusian socialist party communicates with its potential voters but has defended the core of her campaign focused on the defense of public services.

In this way Montero returns to the place where she started her political career, in the community of Andalusia where she was first Health Minister and later Finance Minister before making the leap to the central Administration in Pedro Sánchez’s Government, which she joined since in 2018 a motion of no confidence removed Mariano Rajoy from La Moncloa.
However, Montero has not wanted to say if she intends to be the candidate again in the elections in Andalusia in four years, if the virtual president, Juanma Moreno, manages to sustain a full legislature with Vox as a coalition partner.
