Meghan Markle could be preparing her return to acting with a role in The Gentlemen, the Netflix series created by Guy Ritchie. According to the BBC, talks are still in an early stage and details of the character the Duchess of Sussex might play have not been disclosed. If confirmed, it would be her first significant role since marrying Prince Harry in 2018.
The possible return to fiction also coincides with the couple’s plans to move back to the United Kingdom later this month. Much of the previous two seasons of The Gentlemen were filmed in the Cotswolds, an area near Gloucestershire where it has been speculated they might settle.
So far, Netflix has not greenlit a third season, so talks with Meghan remain open. The character she might play is also still being defined, and it is unknown how significant her role in the fiction would be.
The series, starring Theo James, delves into the world of British aristocracy and organized crime through the story of a duke who, after inheriting the family estate, discovers that his lands are part of a lucrative drug business. From that moment, he becomes involved in a dangerous criminal plot while trying to protect his heritage and confront those who control the business. The second season will arrive on Netflix on September 3, following the success of the first season, released in 2024.

Meghan left her acting career after her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, after playing Rachel Zane for seven seasons on the series Suits. Since then, the duchess has focused her career on new projects, including Heart of Meghan, her Netflix show centered on cooking and home life, and As Ever, her lifestyle brand launched in 2025.
Therefore, it would not be just any return. After her wedding, Meghan told the BBC that she did not feel she was giving up anything by leaving her acting career behind, but saw it as the beginning of “a new chapter.” At that time, her priority was to embrace her new life with Prince Harry and adapt to the responsibilities of being part of the British royal family.
