Atresmedia and journalist Josep Pedrerol will end their professional relationship after more than thirteen years of working together. This was announced on Tuesday by the audiovisual group through a statement, which informs that the decision was made by mutual agreement and ends a thirteen-year period marked by the success of programs such as ‘El Chiringuito’, broadcast on MEGA, and ‘Jugones’, on La Sexta. The separation will take effect on July 20, the date on which ‘El Chiringuito’ will say goodbye to the channel with a special program on the occasion of the World Cup final.

During this time, Pedrerol has been at the helm of one of the most recognizable sports formats on Spanish television. The company highlights that ‘El Chiringuito’ has established itself as “a benchmark for sports analysis, information, and debate, managing to connect with millions of viewers and creating a solid community of followers.” Furthermore, it emphasizes that the program has transcended the television sphere to become a digital phenomenon and has closed another season as the leader among thematic channels.

The statement also values the trajectory of ‘Jugones’, the show that Pedrerol has presented on La Sexta over these years and which, according to Atresmedia, has become a reference for multi-sport information in the afternoon slot, leading against its main competitor.
Josep Pedrerol himself stated in that statement that “these have been thirteen fantastic years in which we have worked with absolute freedom. If, in addition to informing with exclusives and the best debate, we have managed to keep company and bring a smile every night with ‘El Chiringuito’, we feel more than happy. And at noon with ‘Jugones’ we have managed to be the reference for multi-sport information.”

Atresmedia concludes the statement by thanking Pedrerol for his professionalism, dedication, and contribution to the success of one of the most emblematic formats of its television offering. Likewise, it recognizes the work of the entire ‘El Chiringuito’ team during these thirteen years and wishes them success in the new professional challenges they undertake after the closure of this stage.
