In October 2023, Isak Andic turned 70, the minimum age to join the VESP group (Veteran Entrepreneurs Well Prepared), created in Barcelona by Juan Echevarría Puig. They met periodically, and each meeting was organized by a club member. On February 20, 2024, the president of Mango attended his second meeting at the Mutua Universal headquarters.

Upon entering the lobby of the healthcare entity, Isak Andic lost his balance and was about to fall flat on the floor if not for the help of a man and his quick reflexes. The action, lasting a few seconds, was recorded by Mutua Universal’s security cameras and published and explained in these very pages of La Vanguardia a couple of days ago. But we need to go back in time again. The man in the blue jacket who stopped Isak Andic’s fall was Juan Echevarría’s personal assistant. Knowing the importance of the person he had ‘saved,’ while the businessmen were eating, he searched the security camera monitors for the incident sequence and recorded it with his mobile phone. Later, he sent a WhatsApp message to businessman Alejandro Echevarría, Juan’s son, including the video, to which he responded with a joke about having guaranteed Mango suits for life. That was the end of it.
Isak Andic even organized a third meeting of the group at his mansion in Esplugues, this time as the host. Ten months had passed since that first accidental fall when, on December 14, 2024, the man who led the ranking of the richest in Catalonia died while walking with his son Jonathan on a path in Montserrat.
On the following March 1, Alejandro Echevarría participated in a lunch with people linked to the media and mentioned, without anyone paying much attention, the existence of footage showing a previous fall of Isak Andic. At that time, the Mossos d’Esquadra were still working discreetly, and it was not until three days later, on March 4, that it became known that the judge in Martorell had reopened the investigation into Isak Andic’s death.
Months passed without new information being provided about a judicial investigation that was progressing completely sealed off without leaks. It was not until mid-October 2025 that it was published that on September 9, the Mossos officer leading the investigation blocked Jonathan Andic’s path as he left the Mango factory in Palau Solità Plegamans, identified himself as a police officer, got into the passenger seat, and showed the judicial authorization to seize the mobile phone.

This information confirmed Jonathan Andic’s indictment for his father’s death and led Alejandro Echevarría to talk to his father and tell him that he had those images. “Alejandro, out of responsibility and humanity, they must be handed over to the Andic family,” he said.
At that moment, Alejandro Echevarría began looking for Jonathan Andic, whom he did not know personally. It was not easy. He found that his circle of friends was small, closed, and that especially in those days, as now, they had closed ranks around the individual to protect him. He barely left the house and had not been seen at events, gatherings, or busy venues for months. Finally, he located a mutual contact and sent the message that he was looking for him and that it was an important matter.

The first week of November, Alejandro Echevarría received a message from an unknown number. It was Jonathan Andic, who invited him to his home. The grandson that Isak Andic barely got to know was only two months old, and his mother, Paula Nata, was busy with the baby. Alejandro Echevarría stayed an hour with those first-time parents. When Jonathan Andic saw the video, “he broke down,” recalls a person present at the meeting: “He covered his eyes and cried seeing his father again.”
They talked about their parents, how Juan Echevarría and Isak Andic liked each other from the moment they met, and how both regretted not having met much earlier. They also talked about football. Alejandro Echevarría gave him a copy of the footage, and they did not see each other again, but they have exchanged messages, such as condolences for the death, on December 2, of Juan Echevarría, at 101 years old, with such a clear mind that 24 hours before dying, already hospitalized, he told the director of Mutua Universal that they had given the family some footage of Isak Andic falling. “I just wanted you to know,” he said.
Jonathan asked Alejandro if he minded meeting with the director of the Método 3 agency, Francisco Marco, a member of his defense team. No insistence was needed; they have known each other for years. On November 12, they met after lunch at the Torre Melina hotel, the former Juan Carlos. The detective collected the footage on which he would base his expert reports submitted in the case by the defense, with guarantees of preserving the chain of custody.

Especially linked to Barça through president Joan Laporta, Alejandro Echevarría told Francisco Marco that he had shown the footage to several sports doctors. And they assured him that this “was not a normal fall” and that Isak Andic showed “an evident loss of balance and reflexes.”
These images and the accompanying reports have become one of the most important elements of Jonathan Andic’s defense, investigated for the alleged homicide of his father. The Mossos d’Esquadra investigators highlight in their reports, through third-party testimony, that the deceased enjoyed excellent health.
