One of the affected municipalities is directly related to the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. It is Sotillo de La Adrada, with about 5,000 inhabitants, the place of origin of her paternal family. Her aunts and cousins still live there, a place that the president of the Community of Madrid considers her personal refuge and childhood home. On numerous occasions, Ayuso has declared feeling “half Madrilenian and half from Ávila” due to her deep roots in this town.

Ayuso has sent a message of support to the residents: “When your town or its mountain burns, your house, your animals… In hours, everything you love and have fought for your whole life is lost. My deepest affection to my neighbors in the Tiétar Valley at this time. To my ‘sotillanos’, to all those from this wonderful valley well into the Community of Madrid, all the west, on the way to Robledo de Chavela, who are experiencing this hell.”
